The Search Agency’s Favorite Image Based Social Sharing Platforms

Tumblr has quietly been growing for the past couple years and it seems like the Pinterest hype has settled, being widely adopted into many brands’ social media strategies. That said, it seems like the next big thing to hit the image social sharing scene is Instagram. I am a huge proponent myself. I truly believe that once they add the ability to share photos and create a web based application…everybody better watch out. Don’t worry I have more Instagram posts up my sleeve.
Until then, I decided to poll the office to see what image-based social sharing platforms everyone was using. I asked my fellow employees which platform they liked or used the most. I gave them three options: Pinterest, Tumblr, and Instagram. Let’s see what these search marketers had to say from both an online marketing and consumer perspective.
Not Pinterest because once the organizing is done, there’s nothing else to do. Not Tumblr because there’s really no audience. Instagram is the way to go because it has a quick and easy distribution method and I get to make my pictures look cool.
Can a girl get an instagram filter, please?! Regular pictures seem boring to me now, and Instagram filters even make bad hair days look better!
Instagram – I’m too old for this. At least my 12- and 15-year-old kids say so.
Tumblr – They spelt tumbler wrong, and I have 3 other blogs to keep up with (I do use a tumblr type theme on one of them).
Pinterest — “Break out of the square!” – love Pinterest for it’s simplicity – gets my vote.
I use Instagram for personal photo storage and sharing, as well as to see photos of my friends and family. Pinterest, for me, is more about sharing interesting photos I find online and following topics or brands that I like.
I enjoy Pinterest the most. I use it to classify images into different ideas. I’ve only recently started to use it as the idea/inspiration board it was conceived as. Check him out!
Pinterest, because its content is more searchable and interesting.
Because it’s nice to SEE what the people you know are up to, not just be told. They say a picture is worth a thousand words!
Tony didn’t exactly follow the poll very closely, instead just directing me to Fiverr ….one of the weirdest social sites I have seen lately. It’s basically $5 craigslist. I thought about not including this, because he didn’t follow the rules, but it was too strange not to share.
You know, I was going to say Instagram because it has consumed my life, but I am going to go ahead and be the only one to champion Tumblr. I use it for my own personal blog and love it. It’s so easy to share and reshare not only images, but video, poetry, music, and literally anything else you can think of.
It looks like Instagram and Pinterest are the clear winners. Poor Tumblr; I still believe in you (even though I might be the only one!)
Which platform do you prefer and why?
